Liverpool look on course to reach their first League Cup final since 2012, after last night's 1-0 win over Stoke City.

The game's sole goal came from an unlikely source in Jordon Ibe. The 20-year-old has failed to score in the Premier League this season, but that was his second goal in Liverpool's League Cup campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's side will now hope that the one-goal advantage will be enough for Liverpool to hold on to ahead of the Anfield second-leg. No team has won the League Cup, or appeared in more finals the Liverpool.

Should they reach the February 28th showpiece, Liverpool will be playing in their twelfth final looking to win the trophy for the ninth time. If Stoke overcome the deficit in Anfield, they will play in their third League Cup final, having won the trophy once in 1972.
