Some people just have a talent for everything.

Take Idris Elba for example. The actor, made most famous for his role as Russell "Stringer" Bell in American drama The Wire, has proven a dab hand at things off the small screen.

Having landed roles in Thor, Pacific Rim and 2016 remake of The Jungle Book as the voice of Shere Khan, the 44-year-old is also a part-time DJ.

Well, not content with just those two extremely desirable jobs, Elba has decided to add another string to his bow and take up professional kickboxing.

As part of Discovery's documentary "Fighter", Elba took part in his first kickboxing match in York Hall, Bethnal Green.

The three-part series will see the Luther actor travel around the world honing his skills in the combat sport.

Filmed by none other than the Queen of Pop, Madonna, Elba looks in supreme condition performing in front of a packed hall.

"It has been my dream to fight in a ring properly," he told Australia's Daily Telegraph before the fight. "It is not fake, I might get hurt but ultimately I have trained for it and I like to fight."

He added: "I've busted my nose a couple of times but hopefully it doesn't show. Keeping fit is important to me as part of my work and I always used to train back in the day as just a kickboxer before I was acting and now I am on this massive journey."

The three-part series is set to air in early 2017.
