Howard Webb became one of the most recognisable and the best referees in the game during his career, and saw him reach the pinnacle of the game in the World Cup final in 2010. 

Appearing on BT Sport's Fletch and Sav show, he did admit that while he mostly focused on the job he had to do and ignored the press, there was a degree to which something that the fans said got into his head: his perceived bias for Manchester United. 

The now retired ref said that it was something that he thought about, and that "going into games involving Man United towards the end of my career, it was probably something in the back of my mind".
