Former Tottenham and Fulham forward Clint Dempsey got himself in a spot of trouble last night by ripping up a referee's notebook after getting sent off.

The USA international was in action for his club side Seattle Sounders against Portland Timbers in the US Open Cup when the incident occurred.

He was one of four Sounders players sent off during the match, which they unsurprisingly lost 3-1 and here is Dempsey's transgression:
