Robin van Persie has withdrawn form the Netherlands squad for their upcoming friendlies against Japan and Colombia.

The Manchester United striker is struggling with minor toe and groin injuries.

The decision was made by the Dutch national team's medical staff.

Dirk Kuyt and Feyernoord midfielder Jordy Clasie have also withdrawn from the squad.

Norwich midfielder Leroy Fer who scored the last goal in Saturday's 3 - 1 win over West Ham, is among the replacements drafted in.

During the last round of World Cup qualifiers, Van Persie became the Netherland's record goalscorer, beating Patrick Kluivert's 40 goal record.
