It's been a busy summer in the NBA, with news of big moves from Kevin Durant and Dwyane Wade joining the Chicago Bulls, but there's set to be more headlines after Tim Duncan announced that he was retiring from basketball.
Duncan has been in the league for 19 seasons, all of them with the San Antonio Spurs since he was drafted by the organisation as the first overall pick back in 1997.
Since then the Spurs have won five championships, and at 40-years-old the forward has decided to call it a day in the NBA.
Duncan is only the third player in the history of the league to reach 1,000 career wins, and is the only player in history to reach that figure with the same team.
The news was announced with a statement on the Spurs website, and shortly after it broke, tributes flowed in from all around the league, with pundits paying testament to a player who is sure of his place in the Hall of Fame.
