Liverpool's hopes of Champions League football next season is effectively over after another disastrous result for Brendan Rodgers' side.

The Reds slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Hull tonight, which leaves them seven points adrift of Manchester United with just four games remaining in their battle for a Top Four finish.

Michael Dawson's first half goal for Hull means that Steve Bruce's side have taken another significant step towards survival - moving above Aston Villa to 15th in the table and four points clear of the drop zone.
