Dundalk have been knocked out of the Champions League.

The League of Ireland champions were held to a scoreless draw tonight at Oriel Park, which saw them lose out 2-1 on aggregate against BATE Borisov.

Stephen Kenny's side rode their luck at times tonight, with goalkeeper Gary Rogers having to produce a string of saves to keep his side in contention during the first-half.

But the home side also had chances to score tonight, which could have seen them progress on away goals.

However, Celtic have sealed their place in the next round.

The Scottish champions came from a goal down to claim a 3-1 win over hosts, Stjarnan in Iceland tonight.

Goals from Nir Biton, Charlie Mulgrew and Leigh Griffiths helped the Hoops to a comfortable 5-1 aggregate win.

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke on a 5-year contract.

The Reds have completed the capture of the Belgian international after triggering a £32.5M release clause in the player's Villa contract.

RUGBY

Joe Schmidt has committed to Irish rugby for at least another two years.

The IRFU has announced that Schmidt has signed a contract extension that will see him remain as Ireland head coach up until the end of June, 2017.

Former Ireland captain, Keith Wood believes that the two-year deal will allow both sides to take stock at a time when it still won't have a negative impact on preparations for the 2019 World Cup.

GAA

Antrim have been crowned Ulster champions in the Bord Gais Energy Under-21 Hurling Championship.

The Saffrons claimed a 1-19 to 0-17 win over their hosts, Derry tonight in Owenbeg to secure their seventh consecutive provincial title at Under-21 level.
