It's a good thing David Moyes does not have a Twitter account as #MoyesOut has been liberally trending on the social media website over the past few hours.

A hashtag that has been bobbing along the surface all season was bound to raise its periscope at the first sign of trouble. And last night's defeat to Olympiakos provided that provocation.

Straight after the game, Joe and Dan talked to The Guardian's Daniel Harris who highlighted Moyes' tactical errors and the apparent lack of effort made by certain players, namely Robin Van Persie.

Let's take a look at some stats and graphics by Squawka that will crystalize Harris' points in our minds' eye.

RVP

There have been plenty of question marks surrouding Van Persie's happiness under the Moyes regime. While he has generally found the net in a fair portion of his appearances this season, last night was a bad day at the office.

The Dutchman barely moved as Harris mentioned last night and he also missed one presentable opportunity in the final 10 minutes.

The Squawka graph below shows that missed chance in red along with his only shot on target in purple which proved to be the only time Olympiakos goalkeeper Roberto had to make a save during the 90 minutes...

A stat by WhoScored.com also shows that RVP was the starting player with the fewest touches of the ball during the game. His 24 touches was by far the lowest of any player that started the game and goes to show how peripheral he was.

However, after the match Van Persie said he would not play the blame game. That was right before he did just that and seemed to blame his team-mates for entering his zone of influence.

Central midfield

Midfield, as so often this season was a major issue. The much-maligned Tom Cleverley does not pass mustard in a few statistical areas.

Only one of his three attempted tackles was successful, he made no interceptions and none of his attempted crosses proved successful.

Cleverley is often too-harshly criticized and his passing and attacking intent are often scrutinized.

Regarding last night, his pass completion rate of 83 per cent was not horrific but the graphs below show how many of his and Carrick's passes were aimed towards the flanks rather than to the strikers, which Harris cited as a key failing on Moyes' part...

Just look how many of those passes point towards the edges of the pitch in comparison to lack of through balls from deep moving towards the front line. That partially explains why Van Persie was so isolated.

Crossing

Against Fulham, Man United attempted enough crosses for a lifetime supply of St Brigid's crosses. Last night they attempted 19 - seven more than Olympiakos who did not complete a single cross - but just three reached their intended target.

The efficiency of Ashley Young's delivery was particularly poor...

Overall the stats from Squawka show that United's tackle success rate was below 50 per cent, they constructed just one shot on target and mustered far fewer attempts at goal than Olympiakos despite having 56 per cent of possession.
