The World No 1 and defending champion beat Richard Gasquet.

Federer's passage to the final was far more straight-forward than anticipated as a 7-5 7-5 6-4 straights set performance proved enough to defeat Murray.

The Swiss even surprised himself with the three-set victory.

"[I'm] unbelievably happy. I couldn't maybe show it as much because the crowd went silent a little bit. People maybe expected it to go four or five [sets]. Me as well. I played so well in the biggest occasion today and that's probably why I got it," he said.
