John Terry may have been marginalized slightly by Rafa Benitez but returning boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the former England skipper will keep hold of the Chelsea armband.

There had been doubts surrounding the 32-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge where fans refer to him as "Captain, Leader, Legend" but Mourinho has allayed the fears of one of his former favourites.

However the 'Happy One' did say that he would apply a level of meritocracy within the squad which means that Terry is not guaranteed to start on a regular basis.

Mourinho also refused to comment on a possible move for Manchester United's wantaway striker Wayne Rooney, but is set for talks with the misfiring Fernando Torres with the Blues linked to a big money move for a world class forward.
