"Right at the very end he said, 'LADS! YOU GUYS GO OUT AND PERFORM LIKE THAT IN FRONT OF ME...THE NEXT ENGLAND MANAGER! THE NEXT ENGLAND MANAGER LADS!"

That was Kevin Kilbane's memory of a Phil Brown team-talk at Hull City and not even related to the one where he delivered it on pitch right in the glare of the fans.

On the Football Show, Stephen Hunt joined Kevin to look back at the art of the managerial team-talk and the effect if any that it has on players

While Brown's team-talk was of the comical variety for Kevin and Hunt as both were in the dressing room that day, the latter remembered the best one he ever experienced under Steve Coppell's tutelage at Reading.

"I remember Steve Coppell came in and he came in and it was all quiet with five or six games losing [in a row]. He came in and stood up in front of us all, put his head to the ground and just walked out and I swear to you that's the best team talk I've ever had without a talk, if you know what I mean," said Hunt.

"Everyone was disappointed, the manager was so disappointed in us and we all felt for him. Sometimes you don't have to say much to be effective and that was certainly a case."
