The footballing world was united this week as an independent tribunal exonerated Liverpool fans of blame for the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

The unity continued today as Swansea and Liverpool paid an emotional tribute prior to kick-off in their game at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon, with the Welsh club showing a touch of class.

The captains of the sides, Martin Skrtl and Ashley Williams, laid a wreath that contained the crests of both clubs before there was a rapturous minutes applause.

In the 27th minute of the game, a thunderous rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone was sung by both sets of supporters.
