Anyone who has ventured out for a night of tapas and local cuisine while on holiday in Spain will know that Serrano ham is a staple on most menus around the country, and one football team from Salamanca has given it pride of place on their new away jersey.

CD Guijuelo, who are based near Salamanca in Spain, unveiled their ham-themed strip for the upcoming season earlier this week, and it has since been getting plenty of attention online.

The strip doesn't merely bear the logo of a local ham producer as a sponsor however, they've instead opted for something much more elaborate and produced a strip (both shorts and shirt) that has an all-over ham print.

Just to assure everyone that this was not a prank, the club also released images of players wearing the kits at the presentation of the strip.

It's more than a mere publicity stunt however, as Guijuelo is one of the biggest ham producers both regionally and nationally. The president of the club also said that they wanted to innovate with this year's kit, and that they racked their brains to come up with a suitable way to do so before they struck ham-coloured gold with this particular idea.

The good news is that if you don't want to get the shirt, then they still have plenty of ham-themed apparel and accessories for you to buy from the club shop.

The shirt even got its debut already in a friendly match against Mérida, which they unfortunately lost 2-1. Hopefully they get on a bit better the next time they wear the strip, striking fear and hunger into the opposition.
