Shane Lowry has backed Darren Clarke and Team Europe to shine at the 2016 Ryder Cup but on a personal level he has admitted that he is "gutted" to miss out. 

The Offaly man did not qualify automatically or as a wildcard pick as Clarke finalised his team this afternoon.

Lowry took to Twitter after Team Europe was confirmed:  

Gutted not to be on the @RyderCupEurope team but can't argue with the captains picks. Look forward to cheering on the lads in a few weeks.
