There will be a strong Irish contingent in Woburn on Thursday for the revival of the British Masters.

A total of eight Irish golfers have opted to take part in the tournament backed by Ian Poulter and make up a strong field for the first edition of the tournament since 2008.

Beyond the title itself, the tournament has drawn players from the European Tour in their droves with tour cards still to be secured by many and places in the Race to Dubai finale still up for grabs.

The Irish who make up the field include major winner Padraig Harrington and Bridgestone Invitational winner, Shane Lowry.

Graeme McDowell, Michael Hoey and Darren Carke will all feature, as will Damian McGrane who is still fighting to retain his tour card.

Greystones rookie Paul Dunne will try to earn a "sizable sum" to add to his €47,530 he earned at St Andrews last weekend. Dunne will need an additional €200,000 to earn his card, with a €4 million purse available.

Niall Kearney completes the Irish presence in the field and the group aim to emulate the successes of three Irish winners of the tournament since it's inception in 1946: Harry Bradshaw, Christy O’Connor Snr and Christy O’Connor Jnr.
