Fresh from having delivered the goal which helped Ireland defeat Germany in tonight's Euro 2016 qualifier, the Irish match-winner Shane Long summed up what his accomplished finish means.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the 1-0 win, Long put the result on top of the list of Irish soccer's recent high points.

"We've put on some great performances over the last four years but this tops it all off to beat the world champions in your own back yard to put yourself in with a chance to go to Poland and to qualify. It's nice to have it back in our hands," he said.
