Johnny Sexton could make his return to action in Ireland's second Six Nations outing against France.

The out-half is currently serving a 12 week break as part of the return-to-play protocols for a concussion injury and is only cleared to resume action for the Valentine's Day visit of the French to the Aviva Stadium.

The Ireland coaching staff say they would have no concerns about fast-tracking Sexton straight back into the starting side, despite such a lengthy absence.

Meanwhile, Sean O'Brien could mark his return from a shoulder injury in this Friday's Ireland Wolfhounds game against the England Saxons.

However, that match will come too soon for either Dave Kearney or Cian Healy.

Healy is now targeting Ireland's Six Nations opener against Italy for his comeback, while Kearney's shoulder injury is not as bad as first feared and he could also be available for the trip to Rome.
