As Tim Vickery explained on Off The Ball last night, the Brazil squad for the 2014 World Cup was unlikely to contain any surprise inclusions.
That has been borne out today as manager Luiz Felipe Scolari revealed the 23 names that will attempt to secure glory on home soil.
Six Premier League based players are included with a Chelsea quartet (Oscar, Willian, David Luiz and Ramires), Tottenham's Paulinho and Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho making the cut.
Roma full-back Maicon also makes it into the squad ahead of Bayern Munich right back Rafinha, although the German giants are represented by centre-back Dante.
Former Brazil stalwarts like Kaka, Robinho and Ronaldinho are not part of the squad, although their inclusion was far from expected.
Liverpool's Lucas Leiva and Philippe Coutinho have also been left out.
The full squad:
Julio Cesar, Jefferson, Victor; Dante, David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Henrique, Marcelo, Maxwell, Dani Alves, Maicon; Ramires, Hernanes, Paulinho, Willian, Fernandinho, Luiz Gustavo, Oscar; Neymar, Fred, Hulk, Jo, Bernard.
Brazil kick off the World Cup on June 12th against Croatia in Sao Paulo.
