Samaras' wonderful gesture to a young fan from Armagh

Giorgios Samaras scored the most important goal in Greece's football history since Euro 2004 earlier this week as his penalty against Ivory Coast sealed qualification to the knockout stages for the first time.

But the Celtic striker also took time to send a touching message to his biggest fan, Jay Beatty. The two met during Celtic's title celebrations, where the 29-year-old gave Jay his winner's medal.

With the help of the Greek FA, he has invited the young Celtic fan - who has Down's Syndrome and also suffers from a heart condition - to Greece's last-16 match in Brazil against Costa Rica as a means of thanking Beatty for his support.

Unfortunately Jay can't make it to Brazil as he and his family were already on their way to a family holiday. 

But Jay also had his own message for his favourite player...
