Senegal are through to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations quarter finals with a game to spare.

The Teranga Lions defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 to follow up their opening Group B victory over Tunisia.

Liverpool star Sadio Mane continued his fine form this season, converting at the far post after just nine minutes to give Senegal the lead and also to seal his second goal of the tournament.

Four minutes later the game was as good as over as Henri Saivet curled in an excellent free kick into the top left corner of the net.

Senegal could have gone on to add to their two goal lead as they dominated their Zimbabwean opponents.

But they settled for a comfortable 2-0 win to become the first team definitely through to the last eight of the competition with four goals scored and none conceded after two games.

Earlier, Tunisia gave themselves a chance of joining Senegal in the next round after a 2-1 win over their North African neighbours Algeria, who had Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez in their starting line up.

The Tunisian team took the lead on 50 minutes after an own goal from Algeria's Aissa Mandi.

They made it 2-0 when Naim Sliti converted a penalty after Sunderland winger Wahbi Khazri was fouled.

Sofiane Hanni pulled one back for Algeria in stoppage time but it was too little too late.

With Senegal through on six points, Tunisia have now moved onto three. Algeria and Zimbabwe have one point apiece.

Senegal will face Algeria in their final group game while Tunisia will play Zimbabwe.
