England face Fiji tonight in the opening game of the World Cup hoping to avoid a shock loss as the 2007 hosts did. France went into that tournament hoping to win their first World Cup but their tournament was derailed on the opening night by Argentina.

The Pumas quickly became the neutrals favourites in the tournament, after that win in the Stade de France as the South Americans held out throughout the second half to record a famous win.

Ignacio Corleto scored the games only try as Argentina led by eight points at the break with the help of Felipe Contepomi. France were unable to cut the deficit in the second half and Argentina went onto to win their Pool which also sadly included Ireland.

A defeat to South Africa in the semi finals saw the dream end, but another win over France in the 3rd Place Play Off saw a fitting end to a golden generation of Puma players.
