Former Ferrari boss Ross Brawn says Michael Schumacher is showing "encouraging signs" as part of his rehabilitation.

Ex-technical director Brawn, who worked with Schumacher for each of his seven world titles, recently visited the German at his Geneva home, however the full extent of his condition remains unclear.

It was recently revealed in a court case that Schumacher cannot walk due to his skiing accident in 2013.

But speaking to the BBC, Brawn is hopeful about his friend and former colleague's recovery.

"The family have chosen to conduct Michael's convalescence in private and I must respect that," he said.

"There are encouraging signs and we are all praying every day that we see more of them. So it is difficult for me to say very much and respect the family's privacy.

"All I would say is there is a lot of speculation about Michael's condition. Most of it's wrong and we just pray and hope every day that we continue to see some progress and that one day we can see Michael out and about and recovered from his terrible injuries."

Brawn was involved in all seven of Schumacher's driver's title victories, first at Benetton as technical director in the 1990s, before helping the German to an era of dominance in the first half of the 2000s.
