Rory McIlroy has finished two shots off the lead at the end of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Northern Irishman climbed four places up the leaderboard but it wasn't enough to clinch victory as Australia's Marc Leishman won by a shot at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

McIlroy enjoyed a positive final round as he got to 9-under for the tournament.

He managed seven birdies in his fourth round, although that was balanced by four bogies as he carded a 69.

That was enough to finish in a tie for fourth, although he had shared the lead at one point in the midst of his charge towards the lead.

Leishman also carded a 69 and that was enough to just take victory on 11-under by a shot.

USA's Kevin Kisner who had held the lead heading into the final holes, had to settle for a tie for second on 10-under and US compatriot Charley Hoffman also finished alongside him.

Graeme McDowell finished his tournament on 1-under, carding a 73 in his final round three birdies and four bogeys.
