Tesco’s Community Fund is celebrating a major milestone after officially surpassing €10 million in donations for community projects across Ireland. That’s Every Little Helps!

The fund has supported over 27,000 projects since it was launched in 2014 – and to celebrate, we’re offering one lucky listener the chance to win a €500 Tesco Voucher alongside a €500 donation to a selected Community Fund.

From sensory gardens for children with autism to equipment for local sports clubs and charities supporting vulnerable people, Tesco’s Community Fund helps thousands of organisations make a difference where it matters most.

Every time you pick up a blue token at the Tesco checkout and vote for your favoured charity or community group, you’re making a small gesture that can add up to something much bigger – bringing new meaning to Tesco's long-standing promise ‘Every Little Helps’.

Over the past 12 years, the Tesco Community Fund has seen:

• €3.55 million invested in education and sport projects
• €3.06 million donated to organisations supporting health, disability, homelessness, mental health and addiction services
• €1.12 million provided to children's and youth organisations

“When people hear €10 million, it sounds like a big number – but what really matters is the thousands of stories behind it,” said Tesco Ireland Customer Director Naomi Kasolowsky.

“That's the power of lots of people doing one small thing to help – and that's what Every Little Helps has always meant to us."

Blood Bike West

One organisation to benefit from the Community Fund is Blood Bike West, a volunteer-led charity that provides an out-of-hours transport service for blood, blood samples, breast milk, urgent medications and other essential medical supplies.

One of its services supports children undergoing cancer treatment, allowing families to take blood samples at home rather than making weekly trips to Dublin for blood tests.

“Over time you get to know the kids,” said volunteer Mark Dobell.

“It's just amazing when eventually you get to see them ring the bell. In fact, we named one of our bikes after a child cancer survivor and visited his school to celebrate with him. That’s the real reward of this job.”

“If it wasn't for the public, we couldn’t do it. People are incredibly generous, and we're hugely grateful for every bit of support.”

Abacas Special School Drogheda

Another project to receive support is Abacas Special School Drogheda, which has spent more than two decades supporting children with special needs and their families.

The school was born when Jacinta Walsh's two-year-old son Sam was diagnosed with autism in 2002 and she discovered there were no suitable school places available locally to meet his needs.

Jacinta began teaching him at home before organising a specialist training course for local parents. Eighteen others signed up and what began as a 10-week course ultimately grew into a school where 31 children now receive specialist education and support.

“The education provided for our children has always been ahead of the curve,” said Jacinta.

“Each child has their individual needs met.”

The Tesco Community Fund sees each of Tesco's 194 stores donate up to €1,500 every 12 weeks to three local community groups.
