The Mexican striker was set up by Cristiano Ronaldo to score the only goal of the tie.

Atletico had Arda Turan sent off for a second yellow card as last year's finalists bowed out.

Meanwhile, Juventus also reached the last-four for the first time in 12 years after a 1-0 aggregate victory over Arsenal's conquerors Monaco.

The Italians won the first leg by a goal and played out a scoreless draw to qualify.
