Former Rangers player Stuart McCall has taken over as their manager until the end of the season.

He replaces caretaker boss Kenny McDowall, who left his role this afternoon.

McCall is hoping to guide the team to promotion from the Scottish Championship.

"Anyone who has seen the side over the last three or four months will know it's a big challenge. But ultimately it's a massive opportunity, great honour and privilege to be invited to come in and try and help the club at this moment in time," he said. 

Rangers are currently third in the Scottish second tier, which would be enough to qualify for a play-off quarter-final place.
