Promoter Frank Warren says reports today that Andy Lee will defend his world title against Billy Joe Saunders in Thomond Park are false.

Warren says there is no confirmation of a venue or date and talks are ongoing.

The fight is expected to take place in September, with the 5th mooted earlier this week, and Limerick man Lee has been open about his desire to bring the fight to Thomond Park. 

Munster's home ground and a venue in London are among the options as both camps discuss terms.

In a statement, Warren's promotion company stated:  "Following reports in the media this morning (Friday 19th June) that the Andy Lee v Billy Joe Saunders WBO World Middleweight title fight will take place on September 19 at Thomond Park in Ireland, promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that these reports are incorrect.

"The date and venue for the highly anticipated showdown have not been confirmed yet and are subject to ongoing negotiations. It can be confirmed that the fight will take place in September with venues in London and Ireland under consideration."
