Wigan insist that James McClean missed yesterday's Championship win at Yeovil through injury - and not over a refusal to wear a poppy.
The Derry-born Republic of Ireland international refused to wear a poppy on his jersey last season when he was a Sunderland player, a decision which led to abuse and threats.
But manager Owen Coyle refuted talk that wearing the poppy had any bearing on his absence in the 1 - 0 win.

“James McClean wasn't rested, he has a dead leg. I'm embarrassed to have been asked that question in this day and age," said Coyle.
