Ever wondered whether Manchester United or Liverpool had the most supporters in this country?

That is still unknown, but based on Twitter followers, it's Liverpool that has the edge.

Twitter has published a follower map showing the worldwide view of supporters.

But in Ireland, although Man United fans dominate the Twittersphere in parts of the North-West, midlands and west, Liverpool contorls swathes of the country.

There are also pockets of Arsenal support in the west and south, making them the third most supported English club over here.

According to Twitter, "the map was created by looking at the official Twitter accounts for each team, using their followers as an indicator of allegiance (as opposed to, say, instances in which people mention a team while watching an interesting matchup or talking about a team’s rival)."

So the Top 10 based on Twitter followers in Ireland looks a little like this:

2 Manchester United (23.20%)

3 Arsenal (11.86%)

4 Chelsea (8.27%)

5 Man City (4.84%)

6 Tottenham (4.75%)

7 Everton (3.10%)

8 Aston Villa (2.56%)
