If there are Irish athletes sports stars who deserve to have a permanent homage to their greatness, Sonia O'Sullivan would be high up on the list.

And her home-town of Cobh has decided to honour the 1995 World Champion and three-time European distance running champ with a statue.

However, the reaction suggests that the finished work does not bear too much resemblance to the 46-year-old.
