Martin O'Neill looks set to be unveiled as the next Leicester City boss, if one leading bookmaker is anything to go by.

William Hill this afternoon suspended betting on O'Neill to take the reigns at the King Power Stadium, installing him as the 1-4 favourite.

The current Republic of Ireland manager was originally 10-1, but a number of "four-figure" wagers had been placed on O'Neill to take the job after the departure of Nigel Pearson.

"There are some people out there who seem convinced that O’Neill is very close to getting the job if he hasn’t accepted the role already,” a spokesperson for the betting company is quoted as saying.

O'Neill enjoyed a successful stint in charge of Leicester between 1995 and 2000 and has also managed Premier League sides, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

The FAI have made no official statement amid the speculation.
