The reported appointment of Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane as Ireland manager and assistant manager, respectively, looks set to be completed on Monday.
Sources close to the deal suggest negotiations are nearing completion with an official announcement expected on Monday.
The deal will prove a major boost to the FAI as the association has faced dwindling crowds and disengagement from the Irish football public in recent times. The announcement will also be a welcome end to the ongoing hunt for a replacement for Giovanni Trapattoni. The association are understood to be keen to get the new appointments completed ahead of the home friendly with Latvia on November 15 and, if possible, before Tuesday night when the pair will appear together on ITV for coverage of Manchester United's Champions League game with Real Sociedad.
