Diego Brandao has been released from his UFC contract after the Brazilian mixed martial artist was arrested on suspicion of assault earlier this month.

Brandao, 28, was allegedly involved in an altercation with security at a New Mexico strip club.  “The Ultimate Fighter 14” winner has yet to be indicted on charges which include three counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery.

Steven Marrocco of MMA Junkie wrote today: "a UFC official cited violations of the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy as the reason for Brandao’s release in addition to a 'suspension of license' and the loss of his most recent UFC bout."

Under the terms of the standard UFC contract, the promotion is "within its rights" to release the fighter.
