The Modern Pentathlon World Cup got underway last month in Cairo as preparations of the Olympic Games turned up a level.

European Champion Arthur Lanigan-O'Keeffe was in Eygpt as his preparations continued for his second Olympic Games. The 24-year-old finished in tenth place in the event and was the seventh best European in an event that was won by the home favourite Amro El Geziry.

Despite the tenth place finish, Lanigan-O'Keeffe moved up to second place in the Olympic Games World Rankings too. The move up the rankings solidifies Lanigan-O'Keeffe's stature as one of Ireland's best medal prospects this summer in Rio.
