On Thursday night's Off The Ball, Offaly legend Daithi Regan had said he hoped - and expected - his county to "wire" into Kilkenny during yesterday's Leinster Championship match.

And that's exactly what they did, scoring four goals and giving the Cats a scare. But they still came out of the game with a defeat by 0-26 to 4-09.

Newstalk Breakfast's Oisin Langan caught up with Offaly's Ger Healion after the game, and the centre-back was very clear in his disappointment despite the encouragement of having taken the game to the All Ireland Champions.

"In my opinion, you can never be happy to lose. I honestly thought we had no problem pushing on but it didn't seem to go our way in the end," he said.

"We gave away silly frees and we left it too late to pull it back in the end. We were gearing towards this match for the past two weeks. We know they are All Ireland champions but if you start believing the hype, you'll never win anything."
