Stephen Hunt has been busy rescuing his career after being let go by Wolves during the summer.

The former Ireland winger has found himself back under Mick McCarthy's tutelage at Ipswich.

It is a pay-as-you-play deal but Hunt is happy with that as he tries to resurrect his career.

The 30-year-old spoke to Off The Ball about the difficulties of the previous few months, admitting that he turned down a few contract offers that he would have taken in hindsight.

"I probably made a mistake when I turned down a few contracts earlier in the summer. 90 per cent, I blame myself and 10 per cent I blame my agent, because he should have told me when to deal, because I wasn't too sure what the market was."

But he sees the Ipswich move as a fresh start to prove his worth.

"I was probably putting a brave face on it and trying to say the right things. But as a sportsman, you don't want to show that you are hurting. Now that I have signed, I can crack on hopefully and do well," said Hunt.

"It suits both parties. I get paid to a certain degree and if I don't play, there isn't a burden on the club. I'm happy with that. I just needed to get back in and do well for myself and the team."

Hunt gave an insight into initiation ceremonies for new Ipswich recruits. He was obliged to sing and did his own little "remix" of 'Wonderwall'.
