The Olympic Council of Ireland has rescinded its decision to install a media ban for their upcoming EGM, where the next OCI President will be selected.

A letter was issued to participants last night by the OCI, informing them that only the individuals on the list would be permitted entry into the meeting room.

The OCI Media Attache Jack McGouran however, told Newstalk Sport this morning that that the decision has been reversed overnight and will be releasing a statement later.

He has confirmed that "all accredited media will be admitted to the EGM" which will take place at an Extraordinary General Meeting, set for February 9th.

There are three candidates in the running to succeed Pat Hickey as OCI president.

Swim Ireland chief Sarah Keane, Basketball Ireland CEO Bernard O'Byrne, and current OCI vice president Willie O'Brien are all in the contention for the role.

The vote will take place in Dublin’s Conrad Hotel and the 34 member organisations of the Olympic Council of Ireland will be given a vote to elect their new leader.
