Niall Carew and his backroom team are to stay with Sligo for another two years their County Board have announced.

Carew joined Sligo in October last year and led the side to a Connacht final where they lost to Mayo. Sligo were involved in one of the few surprises of the summer when they defeated Roscommon in the Connacht semi-final in Markievicz Park.

Their run ended in Croke Park at the start of the month, when they lost to Tyrone by seven point in Round 4B of the Football Qualifiers.

After this years fourth place finish in Division 3 in the Allianz League, Carew will hope to help Sligo get promoted next season.

It was also announced that Carew's selectors Ronan Sweeney and Keith Carty as well as the present support staff and backroom team will remain in place.
