Donegal defender Neil McGee may yet be eligible to play against Roscommon this weekend despite being slapped with a one-match ban during the week.

McGee was handed the suspension following their National League clash against Kerry after footage emerged which suggested he may have interfered with Alan Fitzgerald's fingers before the Kerry forward was sent off. Donegal GAA sought to appeal McGee's retrospective ban and therein lies the loophole which may entitle him to line out for his side this weekend.

Due to the fact that Donegal's application for a hearing was lodged late, Croke Park sources say it is 'unlikely' that it will be conducted ahead of the game this Sunday. And because the suspension was imposed after an investigation by the Central Competitions Control Committee, McGee is eligible to play pending a hearing.

McGee's presence in defence this weekend will be crucial if Donegal are to stall the winning momentum of the in-form Roscommon.
