Mo Farah secured Britain's first gold medal at the Wotrld Championships after winning the 10,000m men's event in a time of 27:01.13 at the  IAAF World Champs.

The 32-year-old retained his title with victory over Kenya's Geoffrey Kamworor and Paul Tanui in second and third respectively.

The race was run at a frentic pace but Farah stuck to his own strategy and wasn't fazed at the pace of the pushing pack.

Farah dedicated the victory to his unborn child and admitted it was difficult to be so far away from home without his family. His wife did not travel to Beijing as she is heavily pregnant.

Farah remains fully focused on the next race and the possibility of being the first man to complete a 5.000 and 10,000m double at consecutive world championships.

The 5,000m heats take place on Wednesday before the final on next Saturday.

It is the athlete's fourth world title.
