Manchester United's absence from the Champions League last season cost them around £50M in revenue.

Annual accounts show they made £395M, but that was down nearly one tenth on the year before.

Chairman Ed Woodward is positive, though, predicting that they will become the first English club to break the half-a-billion pounds mark in income.

United's first season back in the Champions League started poorly as the Reds slipped to a 2-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night, also losing left-back Luke Shaw to a double leg break.
