While 32 teams are preparing for what they hope will be a triumphant World Cup, there are 32 individuals also looking to impress on the biggest stage in world football: the referees!

As much as we taunt and kick up a fuss over every minimalistic error of judgment these men make, we can all admit that we would not do it ourselves.

It is a tough job, granted, but we must be made well aware that this is as important to the officials as it is to the players. They have trained just as long and hard as the players for this tournament and deserve their place at such a worldwide event.
