Rory McIlroy is just three shots off the lead after the opening day at the Abui Dhabi HSBC Championship.

McIlroy carded a 5-under par round of 67 on his first appearance of 2015, leaving him tied for eighth place along with his playing partner Rickie Fowler.

Martin Kaymer leads by a shot after an 8-under par round of 64.

Michael Hoey is tied for 24th on 3-under while Damien McGrane and Darren Clarke finished the day on 1-under and level par respectively.
