Manchester United fans have been widely criticised for singing about the Hillsborough tragedy during the side's 2-0 loss to Liverpool in Anfield on Thursday night.

96 Liverpool fans died as a result of overcrowding in the Leppings Lane end of Hillsborough during an FA Cup semi-final in 1989. There is currently a second inquest into those deaths taking place in Warrington over 26 years after the tragedy took place.

Chants could be heard from the Anfield Road end, where the Manchester United fans were based during the game that clearly referenced the Hillsborough tragedy.

Liverpool won the game 2-0 ahead of next Thursday's second leg in Old Trafford.
