Manchester United have now switched their focus towards Southampton's Sadio Mane after missing out on Barcelona's Pedro.
BBC Sport has confirmed that they have lodged a bid for 23-year-old Senegalese international.
The winger joined Saints last summer in a £11M deal from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

He has since gone on to impress at Southampton, scoring 10 league goals last season, including the fastest hat-trick in the history of the Premier League in a match against Sunderland, which eclipsed Robbie Fowler's previous high water mark.
