This summer's Olympics seems to be making headlines for all the wrong reasons and whether by their own design or by the fault of others, the Olympic Council will not have been best pleased with this latest stunt.

As is common with the torch relay ceremony, the flame is carried through the different cities and different parts of the country until it culminates in Rio next month.

While making it's way through Joinville in southern Brazil, a man attempted to put the flame out with a fire extinguisher.

Thankfully, he failed in his attempt and the man and the person carrying the flame was unharmed in the altercation. The culprit as quickly tackled by police and moved away from the scene. The torch, unharmed, continued on it's way.

As minor an incident as it is, it is yet more bad PR for the Rio Olympics. Golfers withdrawing from the games, the outbreak of Zika and the discovery of bacteria in the water have all portrayed this summer's Games in a poor light, not to mention the political and economic issues that Brazil face.
