On Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, a current Premier League manager joined Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher to analyse the weekend's action.

But John reckons it was "madness" for Everton boss Roberto Martinez to make that TV appearance (a part of which you can watch below).

John told Off The Ball: "I thought it was unbelievable that a manager would go on television and analyse a performance of his own team. You don't do that. You can't do that. First of all if you go on, you have to be honest. If you're honest, you're going to criticise your own players. If you criticise your own players, your players will be watching it and saying 'what the hell's he doing?'"

John also had a mantra for all managers to follow when dealing with the media. 

"Every manager in his office should have a huge, big plaque in front of them: 'Do not comment on other people's teams. I've enough problems on my own.'"
