Earlier this morning, the passing of former Tottenham and Derby County great Dave Mackay was announced, with tributes pouring in from across the football spectrum.

Tonight on Off The Ball, we were joined by the Glasgow Herald's Hugh MacDonald to look back on the career of the title winning player and manager.

"I think he's in the Top 5 of greatest Scottish players," said MacDonald. "A real top notch player, but more than that, a really significant human being as well."

MacDonald highlighted this humanity with the example of how Mackay treated the son of his former Scotland and Tottenham team-mate John White, who died aged 27 after being struck by lightning on a golf course.

MacDonald also detailed Mackay's impact at Brian Clough's Derby, how he was regarded by his team-mates and why he despised a photo of him confronting former Leeds midfielder Billy Bremner:
