Earlier today a leading bookmaker suspended betting on Martin O'Neill swapping the Republic of Ireland manager's job for life back at Leicester City.

However, it appears that William Hill and other bookies have been a bit hasty.

Irish Independent soccer correspondent and Off The Ball Football Show contributor Dan McDonnell has an update on the situation.

Writing on Independent.ie, he says that it is understood that Leicester City have not approached the FAI yet in relation to O'Neill and that sources within the Association have added that there is "nothing" in reports linking the former Celtic manager with the vacant post at Leicester.

However, Dan does add that "it has been reported in England this afternoon that Leicester would be interested in speaking to O’Neill about the position".

The Foxes sacked Nigel Pearson last week, despite managing to keep the club in the Premier League at the end of last season.

O'Neill remains a popular figure among their fanbase, having served as Leicester manager from 1995 to 2000, winning the League Cup in 1997 and 2000.

His current deal with the FAI runs until next year.
